Wildfire breaks out in Weed

Updated (9/15 6:30pm) Evacuation center is at the County Fairgrounds in Yreka.

From Cal Fire PIO Berlant: Hundreds of firefighters continue to battle the 300 acre Boles Fire in Siskiyou County. Over 100 structures damaged or destroyed.

Updated (9/15 5:00pm) NBC5’s Roma Villavicencio has confirmed that 75 structures have burned so far as a result of the Boles Fire.

Pacific Power has confirmed that 7,700 people are without power from Weed Mt. Shasta. Pacific Power cut the power as a safety precaution.

Weed, Calif. –They are calling this the Boles Fire and CalFire said the fire has burned 200 acres so far.

Siskiyou County Sheriffs Office tells us that they are evacuating Weed High School, Weed Elementary School, Roseburg Mill, Lake Shastina and Carrick.

CALTRANS has closed SR 97 northbound and southbound County Road A-12.

The California Highway Patrol is instituting an emergency road closure of Interstate 5 near Weed. I-5 northbound is closed south of Weed and I-5 southbound is closed north of Weed.

Shasta County Sheriffs is handling the evacuations, their number is 926-2552
