Wings Of Rescue

A very special cargo arrived late this afternoon in Klamath Falls…the first in a series of ‘lifesaving rescues’ coming to the Pacific Northwest.

The ‘Wings of Rescue’ planes are flown by volunteers…

Who carry a very special cargo…of puppies.

“There are a lot of ‘high kill’ shelters in the L.A. Area, and these 20 (puppies) were out of Bakersfield.” Notes Wings of Rescue Volunteer Pilot Steve Sweeney. “And so we go in and take them, and bring them over here.”

The dogs are now headed to the Klamath Animal Shelter, where they’ll be available for adoption.

“We got a call from Wings of Rescue.” Recalls Joanne Carson of the Klamath Animal Shelter. “Their mission is to fly 400 pets for the holidays, to find homes for little pets – and they called and asked if we’d be part of that rescue, and we decided we could take 20 small dogs.”

More flights will be taking place Friday, as more dogs head to 14 cities in Oregon Washington, Idaho, and Montana…giving the pups a new ‘leash’ on life.
