Woman indicted, arrested for murder in Josephine Co.

Josephine County, Ore. — Officials say 38 year-old Murphy resident Jacquelyn Novack was indicted and is in custody pending an appearance in Josephine County Circuit Court related to a homicide investigation.

Investigators say remains of a man in his mid-30s were recently found at a remote campsite on April 9th in the Sunny Valley area. The remains have not been positively identified.

Novack was indicted on April 18th by a Josephine County Grand Jury for Murder, Tampering with Evidence and Felony Possession of a Firearm and is currently being held at the Josephine County Jail.

The identity of the victim will be released once confirmed by the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s office and next of kin have been notified.

Oregon State Police arrested Novack on an unrelated warrant in Eugene on April 9th.
