Hallie the Wonder Dog beat the odds, surviving a deadly plunge into Crater Lake, but now she faces a bigger battle, finding homes for her babies.

Back in September of 2010, we brought you the story of an Ashland couple whose car plummeted more than a thousand feet over a cliff at Crater Lake with their dog inside. It was a freak accident. The dog had seemingly popped the gear shift into neutral.

Hallie survived the treacherous tumble, even charged up the crater back to her family. These days she is now the proud mama of nine Akita-Dingo-Pit mixpuppies. But her owners, Shauna Mchugh and Tobias Swanson, who had been farming out in the Applegate Valley, are facing an uphill battle. Out of full-time work for nearly six months, they are being evicted in three days, leaving them and their pups homeless. So now the Wonder Dog is looking for another miracle.

“Our wonder dog, Hallie, has had a wondrousnine pups,” says Tobias Swanson. “We need homes for them. We can’t take them with us.We’re out of our home inthree days, out in the rain and snow. Please, we need a miracle.”

Those Akita-Dingo-Pit puppies are eight weeks old. They have their shots and they are looking for a forever home. If you would like to adopt one, you can call (541) 787-5833. No doubt they are smart and resilient. Of course, they have good genes.
