Man allegedy robs Portland store armed with chainsaw

0919-jonathan-lee-lathropPortland, Ore. – Portland police said officers responded Monday morning to a report of man armed with a chainsaw and a knife robbing the Plaid Pantry on Southeast Woodstock Boulevard Sunday night.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, officers arrived to find the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Jason Lee Lathrop, outside of the store. He was taken into custody without incident. A chainsaw was found at the scene.

Officers said a vehicle was on fire next to the store at the time of the arrest, but it’s not clear if the two incidents are related.

Police said there were no reported injuries.

Lathrop was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of robbery and kidnapping.
