Nearly 2,500 pot plants found at illegal grow near Applegate Lake

0819 Erik AlmontemondregoJosephine County, Ore. — A California man is arrested after he was found working on an illegal marijuana grow site on federal forest land.

The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office said authorities were alerted to the grow site close to the Jackson-Josephine county line near Thompson Creek Road last week.

Early this week, law enforcement arrived on site and arrested Erik Mondragon, also known as Erik Almontemondrego, of Watsonville, California.

Mondragon said he was working on the site with another man but he had fled before authorities arrived.

Nearly 2,500 plants were seized from the grow.
