Man arrested in connection with morning truck theft

0219 BoehmeMedford, Ore. – A man is in police custody after allegedly stealing a truck that was warming up Friday morning outside a residence in Peachwood Village, off of South Peach Street.

Medford Police say 29-year-old Dru Boehme stole the truck just before 6:30am. They say that just before the theft, a different resident found a man in his kitchen when he went to get his morning coffee. That man was determined to also be Boehme.

According to police, a Jackson County Sheriff’s deputy spotted the stolen truck on Pioneer Road. The driver was able to elude the officer, and ultimately fled on foot. A K9 unit found Boehme hiding in a tree.

MPD says during the time Boehme had the vehicle, he threw the victim’s belongings out of the truck, cut wires, and crashed it into a fence.

Boehme has been lodged in the Jackson County Jail.
