Man comes face to face with burglar inside home

Medford, Ore. — Medford Police are asking for your help in tracking down a man suspected of burglary after a man came face to face with an intruder inside his home.

Lieutenant Mike Budreau said it happened Sunday around 1:30 in the afternoon on the 2300 block of Siskiyou Blvd. The homeowner came home to find the burglar rummaging through his kitchen cupboards. Budreau said the man confronted the intruder and tried to detain him as he called 911, but the suspect was able to escape after threatening he had a weapon.  Budreau said he was armed with a screwdriver. The homeowner was not injured.

“He’s obviously brazen and doesn’t care if it’s daylight out, doesn’t care if he’s interrupted, and what we’re worried about is a violent encounter,” Budreau said.

The suspect is described as a thin, white male, 5-foot-10, around 40 or 50 years of age. He was wearing a red flannel shirt and dark baseball hat. If you have any information you’re asked to call MPD.
