Medford Police investigate homicide in east Medford

Update: Police have arrested a suspect wanted in connection with the case.

At around 11:00 a.m. law enforcement officers in Red Bluff, California arrested 38-year-old Enrique Solis-Garcia.

He was lodged in the Tehama County jail on a murder charge.

Medford Police traveled to Red Bluff to interview Solis-Garcia, who is awaiting extradition back to Jackson County.


Update (09-11-17 3:28 pm): Medford Police have identified the victim as 32-year-old Noemi Ruiz.

Police say she appeared to have been stabbed several times, but an official cause of death is pending an autopsy.

A person of interest, a man thought to be known to the victim, was located and detained in northern California.


Medford, Ore.- Police tape was strung across the entrances to Wabash Avenue in Medford Monday morning as officers investigated a homicide.

Medford Police said at around 7:27 a.m., a neighbor called 911 to report a woman found dead in a driveway.

Not may details about the homicide have been released, but MPD said a person of interest wanted in connection with the case is “believed to be known to the female victim.”

No description of the person of interest was provided by police as of 11:00 a.m. Monday.

Police have not commented as to the cause of death.

MPD wrote on a Facebook post about the incident, “Our deepest condolences to the family and we are working hard to figure this out.”
