Medford Railroad Park opens for the season

Medford, Ore. — Little ones and the young at heart waited all year for this, opening day at the Medford Railroad Park.

The 49-acre locomotive-themed park opened to hundreds of people and sunny skies on Sunday.

This is the 35th year the Southern Oregon Live Steamers group and their partners have been offering rides to kids and their families.

Park workers say they had a very busy first day. Track Foreman Tony Johnson said, “It’s good family fun, and so if they finish riding the trains, then they go to the garden railroad, watch that, go inside the caboose, or go inside the model railroad clubhouse, or you know, have lunch here.”

The park is open every second and fourth Sunday of the month until October, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
