NC_shuttle0628_1500x845Kansas City, Miss. (KSHB) — A Missouri man is now in in custody after police say he boarded a plane and prepared to take off.

21-year-old Adam Scott is accused of trying to take off with a plane from Charles Wheeler Airport in Kansas City, Missouri.

Police say the illegal adventure began at Kansas City International Airport when Scott stole a supershuttle van from Terminal B.

Nearly an hour later he showed up at Charles Wheeler Airport downtown and dumped the van.

Surveillance cameras captured him walking into the terminal and then onto the tarmac.

He boarded a corporate jet worth more than $8 million.

The real pilot says he returned to the plane and found Scott in the right pilot seat playing with the controls.

Scott told police he stole the shuttle van when he realized didn’t have enough money to buy a plane ticket.

They say he wanted to fly the plane to Miami.

Scott won’t be in the clouds anytime soon. His felony charges carry a sentence of at least two years in prison.
