Neighbors relieved crime-ridden home has new owner

Grants Pass, Ore.–A Grants Pass house that neighbors call an eyesore and a crime magnet, is finally in new hands and getting a much needed clean up.

Bill Bellenbaum and his wife just bought a house on Southwest Greenwood Avenue in Grants Pass.  It’s boarded up windows, trash filled yard and destroyed interior may not seem like a good buy to most, but Bellenbaum says they bought it in order to clean up the neighborhood.  He and his wife already own another property down the street.

“All the neighbors have been trying to get this cleaned up for years and years,” says Bellenbaum.  “We actually had kids come through here the other day and a jogger in the park.  We never saw that before.”

Bellenbaum says he believes 24 people were calling this place home, many with drug addictions.

The homeowner gave the house note over to Bellenbaum after the new homeowner agreed to pay the home’s back taxes.
