NTSB releases preliminary report on Humboldt Co. plane crash

Humboldt cal-ore plane crashHumboldt County, Calif. — The National Transportation Safety Board released its preliminary report on a plane crash that left four people dead in Humboldt County late last month.

A Cal-Ore twin engine aircraft from Crescent City was heading to Oakland, California when the pilot declared an emergency due to smoke in the cockpit.

He said he would return to Crescent City, but contact was lost about 5 miles northeast of Arcata Airport.

The NTSB report details the conversation between pilot Larry Mills and the traffic controller, but does not provide any cause of the crash or new information.
