Olympian makes heartwarming homecoming

NC_sickmom0818_1500x845McAlmont, Ark. (KARK) — Arkansas native Jeff Henderson is back at his childhood home this week after winning a gold medal in Rio for men’s long jump.

Before celebrating with the rest of his family, Jeff had an emotional reunion with his mother who has Alzheimer’s.

Jeff’s dad says he couldn’t wait to see his mother’s face she saw the medal.

His homecoming was a day of taking pictures and admiring the gold.

“It feels good to come back with a gold medal that we haven’t won since 2004,” Jeff said.
