Oregon State Police investigating fatal car vs pedestrian crash

Grants Pass, Ore.- Oregon State Police are investigating a deadly crash involving a driver and a pedestrian.

It happened about 8:30 p.m.Wednesday night on U.S. 199 about five miles south of Grants Pass. The investigation closed the road for about three and a half hours.

Police say 22-year-old Brianna Wakefield was driving a 2010 Volkswagon Jetta south on Redwood Highway when she noticed someone crossing the road. Investigators say Wakefield tried to avoid the person, but couldn’t. Several other cars them hit the victim.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released.
