UPDATE: Medford police investigate murder-suicide at local motel

Medford, Ore.– UPDATE: Tenants at a downtown Medford motel, shaken after two people are found dead in their room.  Police are calling it a murder suicide.

“I get off about midnight and I got dropped off and I saw a police car here and one of the rooms and truck had caution tape around it,” recalls Ben Gray.  He, his wife and their young baby have been staying at the Budget Inn in Medford since September.

“I’ve never seen anything like this happen here or in the area,” says Gray.

What he says is usually a quiet motel complex, turned into a crime scene late Wednesday night.

Medford Police say they responded to reports of gunshots heard at the motel around 9 pm.  After going door to door, officers found two adults, one male and one female who appeared to have died from gunshot wounds.  Police are calling it a murder-suicide.

It all happened just doors down from where Gray and his family sleep every night.  In the aftermath, Gray says he’s feeling for those affected by the incident with his own family on his mind.

“I know that a lot of people who have to stay at motels and inns on a regular basis like us, between places and are maybe having a difficult time.  It’s just sad, it’s just sad what happened.”
