Police identify driver killed in I-5 crash in Josephine County

Josephine County, Ore. – Police have identified the driver who was killed after his vehicle crashed along Interstate 5 in Josephine County.

Oregon State Police say 45-year-old Springfield resident J. Guadalupe Arenas was driving a Ford F150 on I-5 when the truck left the roadway and crashed into a disabled GMC Yukon that was parked on the shoulder of the highway.

Arenas’ vehicle flipped and came to rest on its roof in a ditch. Police said Arenas was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt. Three of his passengers were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The people who were inside the disabled vehicle were outside at the time of the crash and were able to move out of the way.

Troopers said weather conditions are being investigated as a contributing factor.
