Portland teen wakes up to burglary suspect in her room

0726 Themba Hasaan KelleyPortland, Ore. – A 16-year-old Portland girl called police early Tuesday morning to report an unknown man was inside her room.

The Portland Police Bureau said 911 dispatchers received the call around 2:24 a.m. Officers immediately responded to the 7800 of S. Franklin Street and established a perimeter around the neighborhood after learning the suspect fled the residence.

Police said they searched the neighborhood and found the suspect attempting to leave the area. The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Themba Hasaan Kelley, was arrested and was found to be in the possession of items stolen in the burglary.

Officers said Kelley was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of burglary and failure to register as a sex offender. He is also being held on a parole violation.
