Dr. Nagi Naganathan takes charge at Oregon Tech

Klamath Falls, Ore. – Oregon Institute of Technology is under new management, as Dr. Nagi Naganathan takes over as President.

The first day back from spring break also marks the first day on the job for Oregon Tech President Dr. Nagi Naganathan.

“It feels grand today,” said Naganathan. “So I’m very excited to be here today.”

Naganathan says he’ll be spending the next few weeks visiting with staff, legislators, and students.  “That is something you’ll see me doing a lot more of. I have a program in mind, I’m going to call it ‘Walk the the President’, wherein I really have informal walks with the students, get to learn about their Oregon Tech experience.”

‘Dr. Nagi’ says he believes Oregon Tech’s focus on engineering and health will help to ‘serve a world looking for solutions’: “With respect to the Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center, the O.M.I.C., and the rural health initiative, I think those are two prime spots, then here is an opportunity for us to become nationally prominent.”

President Naganathan says he’s impressed with the school’s local links. “I was very pleased when I came to interview, how many people from the community showed up – that’s very exciting.”

Naganathan becomes Oregon Tech’s seventh president, and he says he already likes his new home. “Klamath Falls is a lovely young lady, ready to be decorated as a beautiful bride.”

Dr. Naganathan will be hosting a reception Tuesday afternoon to meet with students, faculty, and staff.
