Fred Meyer rolls out online ordering for groceries

(KGW) A local grocery chain is stepping up its digital game with online ordering.

Fred Meyer is now letting customers order food, paper and bath products through their website.

After you place your order, an employee gathers the items on your list and loads them into your car when you come to pick them up the next day.

Reps for the store say in today’s fast paced world, customers expect nothing less.

“Amazon and everybody’s doing the two-hour delivery, and we’re seeing in some of our stores, but not all of them, people want this for dinner and they want it now,” said Judi Swift, a store spokesperson.

For now, the online service is only available at Fred Meyer’s Burlingame store, off Southwest Barbur Boulevard.

The company hopes to expand to half-a-dozen other locations, including those in Gresham and Hillsboro, by the end of the year.
