Ore. — Troopers are investigating a crash between a train and an SUV south of Union, which left three people dead.
Oregon State Police say around 3pm Tuesday a train was traveling east and approaching a crossing when a Jeep Cherokee turned in the path of the train.
The train struck the Cherokee and all three occupants were ejected. They’re identified as 43-year-old Clayton Colpitts, 40-year-old Penny Jo Colpitts, both of Union, and 20-year-old James Johnston of Chiloquin.
They were pronounced dead on scene. The crossing has crossing signs but no crossing gate arms. The train did not derail and no one was hurt on board the train.
