Washington coach still praying with players despite complaints

10.20 COACH PRAYERSWashington — Coach Joe Kennedy was told to stop praying on the field after games.

He apparently agreed but later changed his mind and had a moment of silence Friday night after the school’s homecoming game.

Some players, on both teams, joined him. Kennedy says he doesn’t understand why anyone would have an issue with his actions, but some do.

“Me thanking God for what they just did, how that could possibly be wrong in the eyes of society, the courts, or anybody,” states Kennedy, Bremerton Assistant Coach.

“I want to see everybody treated the same and nobody feel left out or excluded,” says Wesley Bonetti, who filed a complaint.

The school district says Kennedy is endorsing religion while on duty.

Kennedy’s lawyers say he has every right to do whatever he wants after the game.
