Report: Group claims to have hacked into iCloud accounts

San Francisco, Calif. — Hackers, identifying themselves as the “Turkish Crime Family”, claim to have hacked into Apple’s iCloud.

The group says they have access to at least 200 million accounts which include personal photos and data. Some members of the group said that number was much higher—559 million.

Business Insider reports the hackers are holding the data for ransom, seeking a $75,000 payment from Apple.

The hackers reportedly shared emails with Apple’s security team showing a member of the group allegedly logging into the account of an elderly woman that was filled with backed-up photos.

The Turkish Crime Family threatened to begin wiping out iCloud accounts if Apple refuses their request by April 7.
