Rogue Valley Citizen Alert fails

1025-alertJackson County, Ore. – A Citizen Alert test scheduled to take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday in Jackson and Josephine Counties has failed.

According to Jackson County Emergency Management, shortly after the test began Monday morning, it became very clear the system was not working properly. Many citizens called in to report the message was not understandable or had started before they picked up the phone.

Due to the issues, JCEM said they chose to end the test at 11:00 a.m. Staff is in the process of analyzing the issues.

JCEM wrote, “We would like to thank everyone for your cooperation and support this morning! Conducting tests before an actual emergency helps us to better serve the public when an emergency occurs.”
