UPDATE: Missing Douglas County couple found

Update (03-07-17 1:11 p.m.) — Clyde and Peggy Snyder were found Tuesday afternoon by a U.S. Forest Service employee.

Police said the Snyders were found in good health 31 miles up the snow covered South Umpqua Road near Tiller. Crews are still at the scene working to take the couple to safety.


Douglas County, Ore. – Police are still searching for Clyde and Peggy Snyder.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said the Snyders were reported missing on March 6 around 6:30 a.m.

Deputies said the couple left their home in their 1997 Subaru Legacy station wagon at approximately 11:00 a.m. on March 5 to drive in the woods.

According to DCSO, there has been no contact with the couple. They typically drive on Bureau of Land Management roads, but their exact route is unknown.

Both Clyde and Peggy Snyder have medical conditions that require medication.

Police describe 53-year-old Clyde Snyder as a white male, 6 feet tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a yellow and black raincoat.

Peggy Snyder is described as 54-years-old, 5’4”, 270 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last known to be wearing a dark colored shirt and jeans.

The Snyder’s were last seen at a Burger King in Canyonville at 11:28 Sunday morning.

Two witnesses indicated the couple mentioned driving to the Milo area, according to DCSO.

The Subaru Legacy has an Oregon license plate, YYM042. The image attached to this article is a photo of a similar vehicle provided by DCSO.
