Severe weather hits the south

(NBC News) Violent weather ripped across the American heartland Wednesday night, leaving a trail of destruction that stretched for miles.

Multiple tornadoes ravaged parts of Oklahoma, while southern Kansas was pummeled by golf ball sized hail.

Rescue teams worked through the night in Arkansas, rescuing stranded drivers who had been trapped in flash floods.

Forecasters warn more storms are expected to continue across the region this evening.
