Holly Theatre receives $1 million in state funding

0331 Holly TheatreSalem, Ore. — Governor Kate Brown recently signed an appropriation that will allow $1 million in funding to be awarded to the Holly Theater in Medford.

Holly Theatre Executive Director Randy McKay said the money will allow work on design and engineering projects to ensure the final phases of construction can begin this fall or winter. The  theatre is still expected to be open by late 2017.

A handful of Southern Oregon Legislators requested the money as part of economic development funding for the region. Studies say the Holly, when completed, will add more than $3 million a year to the Rogue Valley economy, supporting about 90 full-time jobs.

The $4.3 million Holly Theatre Restoration Project is now about 65% funded.

When it’s finished, the Holly will be the largest indoor venue in Southern Oregon. For more information or to make a donation, visit www.hollytheatre.org.
