Update (08/15 1:20 p.m.) — The Roseburg Fire Department said the suspicious items found at Roseburg City Hall have been disposed of by the Oregon State Police Explosives Unit. The incident is under investigation.
Roseburg, Ore. – A suspicious package located at Roseburg City Hall prompted the evacuation of the building and surrounding areas Monday morning.
The Roseburg Fire Department said a city employee found the item on one of the exterior stairwells of the building just before 8:00 a.m.
Firefighters said the Oregon State Police Explosives Unit was called to further investigate.
Roseburg City Hall was evacuated and a section of SE Jackson Street from Douglas to Court has been closed as a precaution.
