Three arrested following standoff in Medford

0720 Medford standoff 2Medford, Ore. – An attempted traffic stop Tuesday night resulted in the arrest of three people in a Medford neighborhood.

According to Medford Police, an officer attempted a traffic stop on an unlicensed Mercedes shortly after 9:00 in the area of Chestnut Street and West Main Street.

Police said the vehicle didn’t pull over and sped away at a high rate of speed. The officer did not pursue.

MPD said the vehicle was found unoccupied a few minutes later in the area of Benson Street and Prune Street. Witnesses told officers they saw the driver of the vehicle run inside a residence on the 1400 block of Prune Street.

After several attempts to make contact with the people in the residence failed, officers said they applied for and were granted a search warrant for the residence. When police entered, four people were detained.

Officers said a loaded handgun and a small amount of heroin and methamphetamine were found inside the residence. The suspect who eluded officers in the Mercedes, identified as 24-year-old Angel Mallory, was also located inside the residence.0720 Elude heroin suspects

Mallory was lodged in the Jackson County Jail and charged with attempt to elude, reckless driving, unlawful possession of heroin, and driving while revoked.

Two other suspects, 22-year-old Konnor Lewis and 27-year-old Marcella Melgoza, were also arrested. Police said Melgoza is behind bars on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin, hindering prosecution, and resisting arrest. Lewis was arrested on a parole violation for robbery.

A fourth suspect, 30-year-old Amanda Torres was cited and released for possession of heroin.
