Three more candidates in the running for vacant senate seat

0817 senate candidatesMedford, Ore. — Three more Rogue Valley residents are putting their names up for consideration for the vacant state senate seat bringing the total to seven.

Ashland resident Joyce Segers, Medford doctor Richard Schaefer and former SOU Administrator Kevin Talbert will run against Stacy Bannerman, Mike Moran, Kevin Stine and Tonia Moro for Alan Bates’ seat.

Segers owned and operated a medical billing business and serves on the Ashland Culture of Peace Commission.

Schaefer has been director of Asante’s “Cardiac Rehabilitation” for the past ten years.

Talbert is on the Rogue Community College Board after years as an SOU administrator.

Democrats will convene at the Medford Library this Friday to select interim candidates and a candidate for the election in November.

Republicans will meet next Tuesday to pick their candidate at the Inn at the Commons.
