Three nominated to fill Senate District 3 vacancy

08.19 DEMOCRATSMedford, Ore. — Jackson County Democrats chose three interim candidates and decided who’s going on the ballot in November for Senate District 3.

The Democrats nominated Tonya Moro to the ballot in the November general election. Moro won the nomination in the very first round of voting.

“There’s a lot of work ahead of me and the community, and like I said, just really honored and surprised,” commented Moro.

Moro also was picked to be one of three nominees to act as interim Senator.

Former Talent Police Chief Mike Moran was the second nominee picked and retired education administrator Kevin Talbert was the third pick by Democrats.

One of those nominees will be chosen by the Jackson County Board of Commissioners to fill the late Senator Bates’ position until the next Senator is sworn in.
