Tyson recalls over 130,000 pounds of chicken nuggets nationwide

0927-chicken-nuggetsWashington, D.C. – Tyson Foods Inc. is recalling over 132,520 pounds of cooked chicken nugget products due to possible foreign matter contamination.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the fully cooked “Panko Chicken Nuggets” were produced on July 18, 2016. The following products are the subject of the recall:

  • 5-lb. bag containing “Tyson FULLY COOKED PANKO CHICKEN NUGGETS” with a “Best If Used By” date of July 18, 2017 and case code 2006SDL03 and 2006SDL33.
  • 20-lb. bulk packages containing “SPARE TIME Fully Cooked, Panko Chicken Nuggets, Nugget Shaped Chicken Breast Pattie Fritters With Rib Meat” with a production date of July 18, 2016 and case code 2006SDL03.

The USDA said there products may have been contaminated with hard plastic from a rod used to connect a plastic transfer belt during the manufacturing process.

There have been no reports of injuries or adverse reactions.

If you have purchased any of the affected products, they should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
