(NBC) The number of confirmed COVID cases in the united states has surpassed 20 million.
The increase comes as health officials race to vaccinate millions of Americans.
The U.S. has nearly one-quarter of the more than 83 million COVID cases world-wide.
India trails the U.S. with 10 million and Brazil with 7 million.
