Early holiday shopping

NC_earlyshopping1023_700x394(NBC News) Even with Thanksgiving still a month away, some holiday shoppers have already begun to check items off of their lists but few are actually travelling to the store.

A new survey indicates that almost half of all holiday browsing and buying will be done on the web this year.

While this increase may result in less customers visiting stores, plenty of companies are still hiring holiday help.

“We’re hiring more than a hundred thousand seasonal employees across the country in order to meet an increase in customer demand,” said Nina Lindsey, a spokesperson for online retailer Amazon.

With all of the attention on early online shopping, the significance of Black Friday deals is falling, and some brick and mortar stores are even thinking about remaining closed on the shopping holiday this year.
