Family of Texas teen accused of making bomb potentially filing suit

11.24 CLOCK TEEN UPDATEIrving, Tex. — The family of Ahmed Mohamed, the Texas teenager who was arrested after bringing a homemade clock to school, is asking for apologies and millions in compensation.

Lawyers for the family have sent letters to the City of Irving and the Irving School District.

They’re asking for formal, written apologies from the school district, mayor and police chief; along with $15 million.

The letters say the family has suffered physical and mental anguish because of the ordeal and that Mohamed’s civil rights were violated.

The family’s attorney says the city and school district have 60 days to comply or a civil lawsuit will be filed.

Since the incident, the family has left the US and is now living in Qatar.
