Marijuana ads considered non-mailable

640x360_51111B00-AGBTHYou won’t be seeing advertisements for marijuana in newspapers any time soon.

The US Postal Service issued a statement in late November about delivering mail with ads about marijuana, saying that mail would be non-mailable.

Marijuana is classified as a Schedule 1 controlled substance which would violate a US code on placing an ad with the purpose of offering, receiving, buying or distributing a controlled substance.

The statement was not from a national office but from the Portland District Mailing Requirements office.
