Vietnam War memorial

Medford, Ore., — A new wall could be going up in the valley in honor of Vietnam War veterans.

The Southern Oregon Veterans Benefit or SOVB is working to build a Vietnam memorial in the U.S. Cellular Community Park in Medford.

But at a price of $500,000 dollars for the tribute, they’re asking for the public’s help.

“Well if you can’t donate financially, maybe you can donate in labor. How? Well I’m really good at brick laying, I’m really good at landscaping, I know electricity…I can go ahead and help you put in some of this.” said President of SOVB, Ron Kohl.

City Council will vote on the project on July 7th.

If approved, SOVB will only have to pay the city one dollar a year for 25 years to keep the wall up at the park.

The wall will be a 80% replica of the memorial in Washington D.C.
