Watson Creek Fire presenting a struggle for firefighters

PAISLEY, Ore. – A wildfire in Lake County has grown to 8,500 acres as firefighters struggle with difficult conditions.

The Watson Creek Fire was first reported on the afternoon of August 15 about 15 miles west of Paisley.

Difficult terrain, limited access and a dense accumulation of standing dead and downed trees are making the fight against this particular fire a hard one.

Low visibility is also a concern for air attack crews.

Breezy northwest winds could change the spread of the fire with the possibility of a shift to the east and southeast.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
