Woman killed after being hit by train in Douglas Co.

0801 Train TracksDouglas, County, Ore. — A Douglas County woman is dead after being hit by a train Saturday while trying to catch a stray dog.

Sutherlin Police say 63-year-old Adele Osborne stopped her car on the railroad tracks on Sixth Street and left it to chase a dog.

When she saw a Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad train approach, she tried to move the car in time but both she and her car were hit. Osborne was killed.

Police say the emergency braking system couldn’t stop the train in time. The investigation of the accident is continuing.
