Wounded Warriors Family Support

Medford, Ore., — It’s a road trip to support wounded warriors. Today it stopped in Medford to honor veterans in Southern Oregon.

And the show of support was great at Crater Lake Ford. This is the 7th Wounded Warriors Family Support’s “High Five” tour.

Plenty of food, drinks and anyone could sign the car with a message of support, we even participated.

The Wounded Warriors Family Support High Five Tour is traveling more than 26,000 miles in 48 states to say thank you to military families.

“Well  it’s just a way to give back to the combat wounded veterans.”

Craig Beckley is a volunteer driver for the organization and drove the car to Medford from Sacramento.

He realizes the privilege to drive the distance.

“Just to be able to come to these dealerships and meet the local people and have the public sign the car, and just the waves and the thumbs up and honks we get from people on the freeway on the way up.”

The tour hopes to raise a million dollars to support wounded veterans and their families.

“You know when a soldier goes off to war, the families are right there with them and it does affect the whole family, especially if they’re wounded in combat when they come home.”, said Buckley.

South Medford High School cheerleaders showed their support along with the Old Guard motorcycle group, and the Rogue Valley Purple Heart Veterans.

“For all of us it makes us proud to be Americans and to have served in the military, and then to give back now, we had the privilege of escorting the car here from central point, and it was a privilege.” said Vice President of the Old Guard Riders, Mike Whitfield.

The car is continuing to drive up through Oregon tonight and into Washington.

It will end up in San Diego, California in October.
