Grants Pass, Ore. — Grants Pass is taking on the issue of homelessness. The city held a meeting last night, asking for the public’s input.
The City of Grants Pass held a public forum last night to discuss transients, homelessness, and vagrancy in the area. More than 50 people were in council chambers last night to share their thoughts about improvement efforts by the city.
Some of those improvements include the St. Vincent de Paul mobile soup kitchen. The Department of Public Safety said overall it was a good experience to inform the public about plans that are in the works, as well as receive feedback the community.
“It’s helpful for our community to know that there’s thing being done behind the scenes, that we can also show where we’ve been and where we’ve come to as far as progress in those areas,” said Chief Bill Landis, Grants Pass Department of Public Safety.
As of now, there aren’t any calls to action as a result of the forum.
Grants Pass Department of Public Safety says the next meeting will be next quarter when four new councilors will take their seat.
