Aerial survey fails to yield evidence of tornado in Jackson County

Jackson County, Ore. – National Weather Service crews took to the air Tuesday searching for evidence a tornado actually touched down near Prospect during the region’s May 4 thunderstorm.

The final verdict: There probably wasn’t a tornado.

Crews were looking for tell-tale signs, like broken tree tops, and didn’t find any.

They did, however, find large hail still frozen on top of the snow.
