Albany man killed after crashing into canal

Albany, Ore. – A 20-year-old man was killed when his car crashed into a canal off Three Lakes Road in Linn County.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office said Jonathan Alexzander Houser from Albany was the driver and sole occupant of a Dodge Neon that drove off the roadway for unknown reasons on early Friday morning.

Deputies said after the vehicle left the road it hit an embankment and crashed into the Santiam Albany Canal, coming to rest on the vehicle’s roof.

Investigators do not know how long Houser was trapped in the vehicle. He was found to be wearing his seatbelt.

The sheriff’s office said the crash is still under investigation, but speed is believed to be a contributing factor.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is encouraged to call police.
