Man who stole from Phoenix Umpqua Bank headed to prison

pelleschiMedford, Ore. — A Southern Oregon man accused of walking into a Phoenix bank and demanding money is headed to prison for more than 2 years.

Daniel Pelleschi was arrested last month in connection with a reported bank robbery at the Umpqua Bank on South Pacific highway.

As part of a plea deal with the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office, Pelleschi pleaded guilty to 2 counts of coercion, and the bank theft charge was dropped.

According to court documents he broke into his mother’s trailer after the crime, and threatened both her and her husband if they called police.

On Tuesday, Pelleschi was sentenced to 31 months in prison, and 3 years of post-prison supervision. The money taken from the bank was recovered.
