0322 white bookingUpdate (03/22 1:41pm) — Medford Police have confirmed the suspect arrested for robbing a Subway restaurant in Brookings is the same suspect they were seeking in connection with the robbery of a Medford Subway restaurant. MPD says their case will be presented in front of a Jackson County Grand Jury in the near future.

Update (03/22 12:15pm) — The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety said in a press release that they received an anonymous tip that Alexander M. White may have been responsible for a Subway restaurant robbery in Grants Pass earlier in March. Police added that White was actively being sought as a person of interest in a March 17 Papa Murphy’s robbery in Grants Pass.

Officers say that the two additional Subway restaurant robberies that occurred on Monday in Medford and Brookings were similar in execution to the previous crimes, and the suspect had a similar description as well.

According to police, the case detective from Grants Pass began working with multiple agencies in an attempt to locate White. Officers eventually located a vehicle that was associated with White at a Gold Beach Motel 6. He was found in a hotel room and taken into custody without incident.

Grants Pass Police say that it is likely that additional charges of robbery in the first degree will be filed in Josephine County for the Subway and Papa Murphy’s robberies. Medford Police are also actively investigating their case.

Brookings, Ore. – Police arrest a man suspected of robbing a Brookings Subway restaurant. Officers say that the robbery bears similarities to the earlier Medford Subway restaurant robbery.

According to Brookings Police, at around 8:15 on Monday evening, employees at the Brookings Subway restaurant on Chetco Avenue reported a robbery had just occurred. The suspect entered the store and brandished a silver handgun and took cash from the register.  He then fled on foot. Officers were unable to immediately locate the suspect after the robbery.

Police described the suspect as a man in his mid-20s, with dirty blonde hair, and a black bandana around his face. He was wearing jeans, brown colored boots, and a dark colored hooded jacket or sweatshirt. The description of the robbery and suspect was noted by officers as being very similar to the Medford Subway restaurant robbery.

According to police, the investigation involved multiple agencies. Information eventually led to the arrest of 23-year-old Grants Pass man, Alexander M. White. He was arrested at the Motel 6 in Gold Beach at around 11:30 Monday night.

White has been lodged at the Curry County Jail for robbery in the first degree. Police say the investigation is still ongoing, and additional charges are expected.
