Controlled burns on Roxy Anne Peak

1102-roxy-annMedford, Ore. – Crews with Medford Fire-Rescue and Medford Parks and Recreation will be burning brush piles on Roxy Anne Peak in the coming days.

Firefighters said the public should expect smoke and fire department vehicles in the area. No biking or hiking trails are expected to close. Rogue Valley residents should be able to see smoke rising above the valley from Roxy Anne.

According to Medford Fire-Rescue, the burn operation is intended to reduce potential fire fuel within Prescott Park.

The City of Medford said the total acreage to be treated is less than 1% of the park area. The controlled burns will be completed before the 2017 fire season.
