Dog loses puppies in barn fire, meets with pups who lost their mother

Roseburg, Ore. – A dog who lost her 7 puppies in a barn fire last week in a barn fire met with 8 puppies whose mother died during surgery.

Eugene NBC affiliate KMTR reports Daisy the dog has been heartbroken since she lost her pups. “She just goes down to the barn and just sits there and tries to look for them still. She quit eating,” said Christine Nelson.

After her mother’s dog died in surgery, leaving behind 8 pups, Deanna Murphy-Vest connected with Christine Nelson, Daisy’s owner. She said it was a huge task keeping the 8 pups fed. “My mom is exhausted.”

Daisy met the 10-day old pups on Friday. “Daisy is in heaven!” said Nelson.

“It’s hard to see them go anywhere because we are very attached,” Murphy-Vest wrote, “but we know how our momma dog would have felt if she was in this dog’s situation.”
