Entire city of Gold Hill on boil alert

1019-boil-noticeGold Hill, Ore. – The City of Gold Hill said a water main break on 2nd Avenue near Patrick Elementary is prompting a boil alert for the entire town until further notice.

City officials said they would work through the night to restore service to customers.

In a press release, officials wrote in part, “We understand what an inconvenience this is for everyone and we are very sorry for the continued challenges.”

The boil alert is strictly precautionary, according to the city.

It is advised that all Gold Hill water users bring their water to a rolling boil for at least one minute then allow the water to cool before using.

Customers are being told to use boiled water for drinking, preparing food or baby formula, brushing teeth, making ice, washing fruits and vegetables, and cleaning food contact areas.

Officials said they anticipate resolving the problem within 72 hours.
