Evidence links wanted suspects to six bank robberies

Medford, Ore. – Medford Police said two suspects wanted in a string of bank robberies in southern Oregon may have robbed as many as six different banks from Ashland to Cottage Grove.

On March 20, Medford Police investigated a robbery at Bank of the Cascades on Crater Lake Highway.

Officers noticed similarities with that robbery and other bank robberies in southern Oregon and began to work closely with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Following the investigation, police identified two suspects, John Steven Shepard and Kimberly Ann Blank.

After a similar robbery at Umpqua Bank on Walker Avenue in Ashland, police said they executed a search warrant on the suspects’ residence in the 7600 block of Highway 227 in Trail.

An additional warrant was served on the suspects’ vehicle that had been seized after a traffic stop by Eagle Point Police.

MPD said they obtained evidence linking the suspects to the bank robbery spree.

On March 31, police obtained felony warrants for the arrest of Shepard and Blank, but they have not yet been located and their whereabouts are unknown, according to officers.

Police said the couple is “well aware law enforcement is looking for them and may try to evade capture.”

Medford Police said they’re possibly traveling in a red 1993 Chevy C15000 extended cab pickup truck with a lift kit installed and large tires, Oregon disable veteran plate 03270. The truck also has chrome nerf bars and a broken tail light with tape over it.
