Exploding targets, fireworks banned on BLM, National Forest land

0525 Fireworks, exploding targetPortland, Ore. – As fire season approaches, the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service remind the public that fireworks and exploding targets are banned on all BLM lands and National Forests in Oregon and Washington.

The BLM said people who use exploding targets or ignite fireworks on BLM land can be fined up to $1,000 and receive a one year prison term. In addition, people responsible for starting a wildland fire can be billed for the cost of fighting the fire.
